Building and raising an army of public interest lawyers in East Africa.

Project Overview:

This project, implemented in partnership with the US-based Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) involves a series of seminars to support lawyers from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to sustain a dialogue and strategize on how best to use law to respond to myriad challenges facing local communities in the wake of a fast-emerging extractive industry, huge land deals and wanton destruction of natural resources in the region.

Activities:

  • Annual environmental law and litigation workshop and seminars in East Africa.
  • Supporting lawyers to attend ELAW international meetings.
  • Supporting lawyers to attend ELAW fellowship programmes
